In preparation for your mock exams in January - you need to spend some time over the holiday period doing the following:
LITERATURE
- Re-read "Death of A Salesman" (Mr Petrie's Group) - focus your revision on identifying moments of particular drama in the text and looking at how Miller manipulates language, staging and our previous knowledge of characters and their behaviour to make those scenes dramatic.
- Re-read "Journey's End" (All other groups) - focus your revision on how the various soldiers attempt to deal with their situations during the war.
- Go through your poetry anthologies, reminding yourselves of how poets use a variety of techniques to convey and reinforce ideas and images in their poems. Focus your revision on "Dover Beach", "The Flower-Fed Buffaloes", "Report to Wordsworth", "Amends", "Full Moon and Little Frieda" and any poems which detail a sense of place.
- Re-read and consider the techniques used to create drama and develop character in "The Taste of Watermelon", "Secrets", "On Her Knees" and "The Third and Final Continent".
LANGUAGE
- Think about and revise the key techniques needed when writing a formal report.
- Go over you summary writing notes. Remember the need to make at least 20 points, whilst avoiding subjective input and ensuring you use your own words as much as possible.
And finally..... "Have yourselves a merry little Christmas time....."
